Our Lodge

In December 2009, we opened the only sustainability and social business certified AGRO ECO-Lodge in Sri Lanka. Look forward to an exotic stay in our themed bungalows or in one of our guest rooms. On our terraced hillside property of about 3 hectares, only two bungalows, our main house and a yoga hall with a private flat have been built at large intervals. A possible jungle loft is still planned and so we offer generous privacy for a maximum of 8 guests. The space between our organic farmland and untouched nature guarantee you a lot of peace and relaxation.

Our Guest Rooms

Two standard guest rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, are situated in the right and left wing of our main building. Designed to be an alternative to our luxury bungalows, the single and the double room present an inexpensive option to enjoy the amenities of the ECO-lodge. The restaurant as well as the yoga and ayurveda area is nearby and you can relax in our lounge area next to the open-air restaurant at anytime. You can also reach one of the little rivers in our vicinity by walking down some stony stairs. Down there in the deep green of the jungle a natural pool and a little waterfall have formed where you can enjoy a refreshing bath. For a successful pedicure, the natural cleaner fishes are also available :-)

Volunteering at “Singharaja Garden”

You are planning a sabbatical and want to arrive on your trip to get to know the country and its people even more intensively?

Then Singharaja Garden is the right place for you, because our flexible volunteer offer from one to three months will suit you!
You will stay in our single room in the main house and enjoy our vegetarian full board daily. Participation in yoga and our adventure tours are always free of charge. All you have to do is join us and contribute something.

Our Bungalows

1. Tea Garden
The position of this bungalow affords a wonderful view over a tea field that is surrounded by coconut palms. Once a week you have the opportunity to watch tea-picking work from your veranda. Furthermore, you have a direct access from your veranda to your privat natural pool. The natural pool is equipped with a rest area from where you can view a lotus pond and a watercourse that supplies the natural pool with fresh water.

2. Paddy Field
Enjoy the view across the terraced rice fields from your veranda. Watch the herons catch frogs between the green heads of the plants or observe the local farmers tending their fields. There is always something to see from your veranda. From there you have also access to your privat spacious natural pool. The method of building of the pool corresponds to a traditional irrigation system for the adjacent rice fields and guarantees that the pool is regularly flooded with fresh water. A big rest area located near your natural pool invite you for more relaxation.

The two bungalows are built with natural stones and clay bricks. They are equipped with individual and high quality interior from the colonial and modern period and can each accommodate two people. Our “Paddy Field” bungalow even offers enough space for an extra bed if needed.

Our Restaurant — A Culinary Voyage Of Discovery

The restaurant, which is only partly closed, also offers an outdoor terrace and is the center of our daily lives. Every day our different meals offer insights into the Far Eastern cuisine. You can also visit our cooks in the kitchen at any time and we are happy to give advice on preparing those dishes at home.

Our restaurant does not offer any meals with fish or meat. However, we consistently offer ovo lacto vegetarian, and on request even vegan, food.

Most of the vegetables, fruit, spices and rice we use for our well-balanced meals come from our own, lovingly cared for organic gardens. In case we need to obtain food externally we buy it from neighbouring farmers or farmers from the highlands. We put a lot of emphasis on regional and national products. Food that has to be transported half way around the world harms the local economy and our environment.
