Travelling after the Cyclone in Sri Lanka

Dear travellers to Singharaja Garden and all of Sri Lanka,

On the weekend of 22/23 November 2025, Cyclone Ditwah swept across our island, causing severe damage due to storms, landslides and flooding.
According to the authorities, more than 600 people have been killed and 330 are missing.
Our lodge and the entire region were not affected. The south and south-west of Sri Lanka were also largely spared. The Expressways are fully usable and have not been affected by the flooding.
Cyclone Ditwah has severely devastated some areas of Sri Lanka, particularly the southern highlands around Badulla, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy, and the government has declared a state of emergency in order to mobilise foreign and domestic resources.
Travel to us and to the south/south-west, starting from Kalutara, is no problem at all and the high season is just beginning. If you are planning to travel to the affected regions, you should find out about the current situation at your destination and adjust your travel plans if necessary.

Please bear in mind that your planned trip to Sri Lanka is an important source of income and secures existing jobs.

We and the whole of Sri Lanka look forward to seeing you and send you warm greetings from the wilderness.

Your Singharaja Garden team
